Actions Speak Louder Than Words!

What I have been showering in for the last
5 days!
Yesterday was every inch as difficult as I imagined it to be. After 20 minutes of ‘It is only a little bit yellow madame’ from Praveen, I took matters into my own hands and filled up a bucket with the contaminated tap water, (I did this so the concentration would be stronger, therefore the yellow/orange colour would be more obvious- a tip I picked up from an episode of CSI ) and stuck his head in it!... I didn’t really, but I wanted to! Within minutes of showing him my cast iron evidence the apologies started to flow and the water tank from which the water originates was emptied. Now when I come out of the shower I smell clean rather than of *!!@/$ ? rust. Result!

  2. Try adding Alum (potasium permanganate), it will settle all the total suspended solids (TSS, in engineering jargon). Where is your water source? is it municipal or well water?
Well, that is the least of your problems, it needs to be pathogen free too (what we call disinfecting the water usually with chlorine or UV radiation).
Anhoo...maybe I should move to mumbai and lcena up thier water supply :)

  4. Wow, Travel bug I'm speechless. Thank you, although it was hard enough explaining to Praveen that the yellow water was unacceptable never mind telling him that he needs to add Pathogen free Potassium Permanganate to the water. ha ha! I think Mumbai could do with a guy like you! : )

  5. Great work, You've learned something very important about getting things done in India: using shame to your benefit! Good luck in the monsoon!

  6. I didn't read the whole post, seems like you got a corroded tank. Cast Iron tank? But other than aesthetics, colored water is also an indication of other stuff.
and yea..Mumbai could do with a Gal like me ;)
But I would get into too many issues and fights and die young :)

  9. Hmmmm.... reminds me of the time when we used to get such rusty water for a month (till they decide to put up new tanks) and when the water purifier fellow came for servicing, the filter had become entirely muddy brown and the washing machine's insides had become brown.... lets just say that I was happy to hear my G. I. epithelium gets replaced every few days.... :-o

  10. oh dear, i'm not the only one then! I am lucky actually, they redirected the water from another - non rusty tank and are currently sorting out the rusty one. I have had clear tap water for 3 full days now so am happy!
